House League & Mini Huskies
The North Toronto Basketball Association House League & Mini Huskies program welcomes youth from ages 6 to 18, with over 800 youth participating each year.
Mini Huskies, led by NTBA staff coaches, is designed for our youngest athletes and aims to develop fundamental skills, learn the basic rules of the game and have fun.
House League, which begins in grade 3, is led by volunteer parent / community coaches. The House League program strives to develop basketball skills while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, fitness and fun. House League games involve equal playing time for all regardless of skill level or prior basketball experience.
This program could not run without the help of volunteer coaches, site supervisors and league convenors.

House League Awards
At the end of each the House League season, one player from each division is awarded a plaque to recognize their contributions to the program.
Boys Award – The Kelly Silverstein award
Tragically, Kelly Silverstein passed away in November 2006 only a few days after being diagnosed with leukemia. During his time at the NTBA, Kelly was a staunch and active North Toronto Basketball Association supporter, Dad of two boys in house league, house league coach for numerous years and friend of many parents/kids in our program. He epitomized what our coaches should stand for: fun, teamwork, enthusiasm, commitment, a good teacher and a healthy level of competitiveness. A plaque is awarded to the players who best capture the spirit of what Kelly was about.
Girls Award – The Stephen Eisen award
In order to honour Stephen Eisen’s special contribution to girls’ basketball, a player from each girls’ division is awarded a plaque in his memory. Stephen – a parent and coach – passed away suddenly in November of 2000. In each division, coaches nominate girls who best exemplified the “inspirational” qualities of enthusiasm, team spirit and love of the game.
